Biography

Anna Bradshaw, now a Suffolk artist, was born in Kenya and spent her childhood on a remote farm there -  the vast skies, bright colours and way of life influence her paintings today.   She was educated in Nairobi and only came to England when she was 18.

A short period nursing gave her the desire to work in the medical world and as a medical secretary she worked her way around the world..  She married Robert  in 1970, and settled in UK.   In due time she  was fortunate enough to be invited to become data manager for oncology clinical trials  at a hospital in North London.    She continued this work until retirement.

With no formal art-school training she began a series of courses,  gaining a City and Guilds Diploma in Watercolour painting and a Diploma in oil painting from the Norfolk  School of Painting with Martin Kinnear.

Today, her practice in varied and exploratory.
Preferring to paint in oils,  Anna enjoys the immersive experience of applying paint with either  brush, palette knife (or roller using cold wax) and appreciates the resulting characteristic textures of oils.   Her narrative  is mainly Abstract Realism.   Anna believes that the most important feature for her work is that it comes from her inner creativity and she tries,  above all, to find her voice  in what she paints and to be authentic in what she creates.
